Sydney trip possible
PA New Plymouth Unbeaten juvenile filly, Scotch and Dry, may contest the sAustl million Golden Slipper Stakes in Sydney next month. Her New Plymouth trainer, John Wheeler, hinted, yesterday that a trip to Sydney for the two-year-old event had not been discounted. "There is nothing definite planned but the Golden Slipper could be on the cards,” he said. Scotch and Dry, a chestnut by Whiskey Road from Miss Pross, stretched her winning sequence to four when she convincingly took the Matamata Breeders Stakes on Saturday. Wheeler said Scotch
and Dry’s next race would be either the Grangewilliam Stakes, at New Plymouth on March 10, or the Sovereign Lodge Wakefield Stakes, at Trentham on March 1. She will then contest either the Golden Slipper, run at Rosehill on March 22, or the Swettenham Stud Sires’ Produce Stakes, at Awapuni on the same day.
