Arrest after shooting

Christchurch detectives have arrested a man in connection with the shooting of a Mongrel Mob member at a flat in Linwood early last Friday. The man, aged 25, is expected to appear in the District Court today charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He was arrested after he went into the Christchurch Central Police Station yesterday to talk to detectives about the shooting. A spokesman for the Christchurch C. 1.8. said that detectives still sought another man who could help the inquiry. The man who was shot, Robert Sadlier, aged 25, last evening was reported to be in a satisfactory condition in Burwood Hospital. He was hit twice in the legs by shots fired from a pump-action shotgun. Two masked gunmen, who had burst into the flat, in Gloucester Street, fired the shots. The shooting followed up an earlier brawl in Cathedral Square between two factions of the Mongrel Mob.
