Medical expert insists evidence correct

NZPA-AAP London A British medical expert who gave damning evidence in the 1983 trial of Lindy Chamberlain has insisted that a human was responsible for the death of Mrs Chamberlain’s nine-week-old daughter, Azaria. In the “Sunday Mirror” Professor James Cameron said he was still certain the evidence he gave which helped convict Mrs Chamberlain of Azaria’s murder was correct. “I know I was right. Nothing will change my mind,” Professor Cameron told the “Mirror” in London. Professor Cameron, said to be one of the world’s leading pathologists, dismissed the cardigan found near Ayers Rock as being relevant to the evidence which convicted Mrs Chamberlain. “It makes no difference to the forensic evidence,” he said.

“The baby was killed by an instrument which could not have been wielded by an animal... “I will always be convinced that our investigations were right.”

Professor Cameron and other experts compiled evidence . which alleged that the distribution of blood on clothing found was consistent with Azaria’s throat having been cut. His evidence also claimed there were no marks consistent with a dingo being involved and that the clothing was piled neatly in a manner no animal could have managed.
