Only one first division rugby league match was played in Britain on Sunday, but the 9-5 victory it achieved over Castleford was sufficient to take Widnes to the top of the table.
Widnes, which has the former Canterbury forward, Scott Barrow, in its squad, is now one competition point
ahead of Halifax and also has a game in hand. The multiple postponements left Wigan, Oldham, Warrington and Hull Kingston Rovers in the next four positions.
In the sole second division fixture Fulham beat Rochdale Hornets, 26-12.
