Air Albatross meeting
PA Wellington A liquidator and committee of inspection were appointed at a creditors’ meeting of Air Albatross, Ltd, in Wellington yesterday, but not without long and involved voting. The meeting also heard from a director of the company some of the reasons contributing(to its collapse. Appointed after a threeway vote for the position of liquidator were Messrs Tolmie Scoular and Robert Thompson, of Coopers Lybrand.
A proxy-holder from a leading unsecured creditor, Shell Oil, said Messrs Scoular and Thompson had undertaken several liquidations and their firm, Coopers and Lybrand, was associated with the British accountancy firm of the same name which assisted with the Lear Jet liquidation.
Election of a committee of inspection to oversee the main activities of the liquidator, and provide guidance was even more complicated, four people being nominated for three positions. Eventually Messrs Mack Martin, of Shell Oil, Brent King, of N.Z.I. Finance, and David Marriott, chief executive of the Aviation and Travel Industry Training Board, were appointed.
