Auckland wool cheaper
PA Wellington Wool prices tumbled further at the Auckland sale at Seaview.
The market indicator fell to 340 c a kilogram greasy and 457 c clean.
The official report said prices for second-shear type wools and clothing oddments were down 2.5 per cent. Short shears and fleece wool were also in buyers’ favour, according to the report. First lambs’ wool was 7.5 to 10 per cent cheaper, while prices for second lambs were 7.5 per cent lower. Tne offering of 22,000 bales was 56 per cent second shear, 21 per cent lambs wool, 12 per cent fleece and the remainder oddments and miscellaneous.
The main buyers were New Zealand merchant scourers who dominated, with support from Japan, Eastern Europe and the Far East.
The Wool Board bid on 10.9 per cent and bought 3.2 per cent of the wool on offer.
Clean-on-floor prices in cents a kilogram were: i Medium crossbred hogget: 35
micron, 110-120 mm: Average to good 464 to 466, 37 micron, UO-120mm: Average to good 462 to 464, average 462 to 463. Second-Shear fleece: 37 micron, 75/100-75/125mm: Average to good 453 to 462, average 439 to 450. 37 micron, 50/75-50/ 100 mm: Good 451 to 461, average to good 426 to 431, average, to 418.
Crossbred fleeces: 33 micron 75/125mm: Average to poor 379. Second-shear bellies and pieces: 35 micron 50-100 mm: Poor to 361, 35 micron 25/7550/75mm: Average to poor 363 to 366, poor 356 to 358. Crossbred locks and second pieces: 35 micron 25/75mm: Average to poor to 347. First lambs: 28 micron 3525/75mm: Average 432 to 444, average to poor 419 to 426, 29 micron 25/75-50/75mm: Average 433 to 452, average to poor 419 to 429, 30 micron 50/75mm: Average to 448, average to poor to 432. Second lambs: 28 micron: Average to poor 318 to 388.
