Women tennis seeds qualify
P A Wellington The four top women seeds are through to the semifinals of the BP national tennis championships at Mitchell Park. Michelle Parun and Julie Richardson yesterday joined the top seed, Belinda Cordwell, and Edith Tatana, in the semis, with contrasting efforts.
Richardson served and volleyed well to beat the 1984 winner, Linda Stewart, and was too powerful off the ground, winning 6-2, 6-0. Parun had all sorts of problems against Judith Phillips, of Canterbury, with both players dropping their first three service games in the first set.
