Payments for meat lowered
Prices to farmers for PH and PX grades of lamb have been reduced 10c a kilogram in next week’s meat company export schedule. The reductions come on top of decreases of 7c for PX and 6c for PH announced last week.
The YM grade, however, will rise 2c a kilogram next week after a 3c increase last week. Prices for ML, MX and MM grades of mutton have been reduced sc.
All payments for sheepskins have been reduced 30c, and woolly and shorn lambskins have risen 20c.
South Island prices for prime beef have been reduced 5c a kilogram, manufacturing and L2 grades are down sc, and bull is down 10c.
NZPA reports that the Primary Producers Co-opera-tive Society advised yesterday that it will pay a premium of $1.25 a head for all YL grade lambs for the week from Monday. The payment will apply to all pool or schedule YL grade lambs in all drafts consigned to the society until further notice.
