Shock ski victory

NZPA-Reuter Berchtesgaden, West Germany An unfancied skier, Johann Wallner, of Sweden, snatched a shock victory in the men’s World Cup slalom yesterday.

The 20-year-old Swede, known mainly as a giant slalom specialist, put in a brilliant second run of 50.90 seconds to pip the first leg leader, Bojan Krizaj, of Yu-

goslavia. Wallner, who had not finished higher than fourth in a World Cup race and eighth in a slalom, clocked lmin 43.96 s in total to beat the veteran, Krizaj, by 0.09 of a second. Third was another unrated skier, Daniel Mougel, of France, and fourth Felix McGrath, of the United States, winning his first World Cup points.
