Winds delay Tahiti canoe
PA Auckland The Tahiti canoe Hawaiki Nui, which has been blown off course, is not expected at Auckland until later in the week. The crew reported on Saturday night that the canoe was 35km north of Mayor Island, Bay of Plenty. The crew of the 21m craft, a replica of early Polynesian voyaging canoes, was in good spirits, said MrAlec Hawke, a member of the Orakei Marae committee which has planned a welcome in Auckland.
