Two Canty yachts lead Farr championships
Two Canterbury yachts lead the national Farr 6000 yachting championships, sailed on Lyttelton Harbour in ideal conditions yester-
day. Izzy, sailed by Bob Auton, and Leighway, sailed by Hugh Dimock, lead the sixrace series with one win and a second each, for three points and equal first after two races.
The first' race saw Izzy open up a good lead on the fleet, to eventually win from Leighway, with Trevor Shapland in Bloodshot third.
Bloodshot led the second race early on and was 10 seconds ahead of Leighway as the boats went round the first mark.
Later, Bloodshot, Leighway and Izzy were passed by Blown Glass, skippered by David Johnson, which, at the bottom mark, had opened up a lead of 12 seconds.
Leighway came back and moved up to take the lead from Bloodshot narrowly followed by Izzy, which had also passed Blown Glass.
On the final beat Izzy
overtook Bloodshot to finish second behind Leighway.
