Taylors Mistake

Sir,—l am astounded that the Christchurch City Council can push ahead with such expensive schemes as the plan to make the quaint wild, and dangerous beach of Taylors Mistake into a “developed resort” when so many people are complaining about the high cost of rates. The road is inadequate, being so dangerous in places and would have to be rebuilt at great cost The public toilets are already inadequate and what about compensation that all fair-thinking people believe should be paid to bach owners. Some older people have been going to baches at the beach all their lives yet they must demolish them at their own expense. The legal paper road which in theory runs around the country’s coast has met baches in other areas, yet some sort of agreement about living out their natural lives has been reached.— Yours, etc., G. D. RANKIN. December 20, 1985.
