Police Force
Sir,—As the year closes one, reflects on how we handled our Eolice in 1985. Early in the year we ad controversy over long batons, when and where they could be carried, staff shortages, the impact of early retirement and then there was talk of industrial action. Then there were assurances by the Minister mid-year about substantial increases in pay by November, and then talk of industrial action and what was planned. This went past just talking. It all boils down to a Police Force frustrated by the Government and the Minister. That is good news for criminals, but bad news for the public. — Yours, etc., 1 R. A. COOK. December 23, 1985.
