Petrol spills from tank
Part of Hanmer Springs’ main street was closed off yesterday as a petrol spillage flowed into a storm water drain. A Caltex tanker was filling tanks at Hanmer Motors about 9.30 a.m. when it was discovered that a pipe running from the garage tank was spilling the petrol on to the street Traffic was diverted from , Conical Hill Road, through {
the Lodge Hotel yards up as far as the bus depot Constable Peter Gilliedder, of the Hanmer Springs police, said that the garage had recently changed to new pumps. It is thought that the problem may have occurred during the installation of the pumps. Caltex was investigating the problem, said Constable
