Cost of GST
Sir, — Jelte H. Visser (December 20) asks what people are doing about GST. The Democratic Party is planning a self-funding campaign which will include television advertising. (Since the Government’s proGST advertisements are somehow classed as non-political, then antiGST advertisements must also be non-political and therefore legal on television.) Most of the party hiber-
rates at this time of the year so the campaign is running at a very low level. Since the party runs on a pay-as-you-go basis the fund-raising must come before the spending, so it will take a while before the
effects become obvious. However, action is definitely being taken. — Yours, etc., J. C. RING. December 20, 1985.
