Boost for visitor centre at Orana
The Orana Park Wildlife Trust will receive $30,000 towards the cost of building a visitor information centre from the Minister of Tourism, Mr Moore, under the community and public sector grants scheme. Visitors to the centre will be able to watch an audiovisual presentation of native flora and fauna found at the park. It is hoped the centre will be built by May next year.
The information centre would be sited in the central development area of the Sirk, close to the kiosk and e kiwi house. “Orana park makes a positive, sound contribution to Canterbury’s visitor attractions,” said Mr Moore, in announcing the grant. “It is an excellent example of the type of community project the assistance programme was set up to encourage.”
