Culverden sale
Buyers from as far away as Southland supported a recent dairy beef cattle sale at Culveraen, conducted by Wrightson N.M.A., Ltd. Friesian bull calves and Hereford-Friesian cross bull and heifer calves were in strong demand. Good-quality Friesian bulls sold from $220 to $296 and beef-cross bulls made to $250. The yarding included 1003 calves and 188 adult cattle. Richardson (Culverden), 22 beef cross bulls at $l9B to $212,11 beef cross heifers at $2OB, and 7 Friesian bulls at $296. Adults: Percival Farm (Hanmer Springs), 20 two-year-old steers at $460 to $480; J. R. Wilson Partnership (Hanmer Springs), 23 yearling Hereford steers at $4OB to $422, and 30 yearling Angus and Angus, cross steers at $4OB to $440; R. M. Ensor (Hanmer Springs), 11 yearling Hereford steers at $414, 15 yearling Angus steers at $420, and 3 yearling Murray Grey steers at $452.
