Extra tax estimate
PA Wellington A typical North Island hill country farm will pay tax on extra paper income of $58,000 under the Government’s farm assistance package, says the Opposition spokesman on agriculture, Mr lan McLean. A typical South Island finishing breeding farm would pay tax on extra paper income of $35,000, he said.
Mr McLean said farmers would spread the tax over a number of years. “But this is a new tax which does nothing to help farmers to stay on their farms,” he said.
