Parkroyal Hotel
Sir,—lnvestors in the Parkroyal Hotel project may not be convinced that another luxury hotel is needed. I certainly would have my doubts when looking around at all the city’s hotels, motels and motor lodges which already supply luxury accommodation. In Memorial Avenue, Deans Avenue, Bealey Avenue, Papanui Road, Blenheim Road, Riccarton Road, Latimer Square, Victoria Square and Oxford Terrace there are top-class establishments offering thousands of units to suit every type of traveller. Another cause of concern to investors may be the very small area of land available for this building. Where will the 100 or so employees and the guests park their vehicles? There will be no outside area apart from the Town Hall car park and Victoria Square. As I frequently approach the city from Victoria Street I imagine trees and grass growing on that cleared area. Perhaps they will be some day.—Yours, etc., B. LE CREN. December 16, 1985.
