Rich not best guests

NZPA-AP London Wealthy hotel guests are the worst behaved, British hotel owners say. They are arrogant, rude, impatient, and often leave without paying their bills, says a survey published in this year’s edition of “Signpost,” a guide to British hotels.

Married couples are the worst thieves. They steal television sets, telephones, and bedsheets. Honeymooners take full-length bathrobes.

“Signpost,” reporting answers to a questionnaire submitted to 155 top-rated hotels, said that most thieves were souvenir-

hunters who took ashtrays, coat-hangers, and sheets, especially if they bore the hotel’s crest. Clocks, pictures and, in

one case, an entire set of

billiard balls and cues were stolen. But, the book said, 96 per cent of guests were wellbehaved.
