New look for 1986 Stud book
A number of improvements will be made to Volume 26 of the New Zealand Trotting Stud Book, which is expected to be available towards the end of 1986.
The executive of the Trotting Conference has agreed to a number of proposed improvements to the book made by the breeders’ advisory committee. Most of the new information will be obtained from the conference computer and it is intended to have a full list of breeders and their addresses, and breeders of foals will return to the list of mares and their progeny. More up-to-date information on performances of New Zealand-bred horses in Australia, Macau and the United States will be available.
The extended pedigree section will be enhanced by including the stakes won in the country of origin of the stallions, and the names of the breeder and importer of each horse will be listed. The two minute mile list will be continued, but there will be a special section devoted to a list of Imin 55s performers. The sires’ statistics will be extended to include a list of the number of live foals sired by each stallion and a list of their winners.
The freeze brand numbers of each horse foaled since 1970 will be shown and the life-time winnings of all horses foaled since 1971 will be included.
The mile rates necessary for special inclusion have been reduced from 2min 8s to 2min 6s for standing starts and from 2min 5s to 2min 3s for mobile starts.
A majority vote decided against including family numbers in the Stud Book and it was decided unanimously that there should be no advertising included.
