‘User pays’ post idea criticised
PA Wellington A call by the Minister of Overseas Trade, Mr Moore, for a “user pays” trade post in Shanghai “does not go far enough,” the New Zealand Party trade and industry spokesman, Mr Robin Harris, said.
“If it is to be funded from the private sector let it be manned by the private sector as well,” Mr Harris said.
Present New Zealand Party policy provides for the disbanding of the trade commissioner service and its replacement by an external trade organisation, staffed by trained people from the private sector, Mr Harris said.
