Deportation ruling angers Sikhs
NZPA-AFP Ottawa Up to 2800 Sikhs could be deported from Canada to India as a result of a Government decision to lift an 11-month-old moratorium on the deportation of Sikhs not granted refugee status here, protesters were told yesterday. About 100 people marched on Ottawa’s Parliament Hill to protest against this
week’s deportation decision. The director of the World Sikh Organisation of Canada, Gopal Singh Brar, told the demonstrators that as many as 2800 Sikhs could be deported under the pretext of an improvement of the situation in India. According to Mr Brar, the Canadian Government should keep the moratorium in place
