Grubber attack on constables

PA Invercargill Two police constables were attacked by a masked man wielding a longhandled grubber when they went to investigate at a Bluff chemist shop early yesterday. A man, aged 27, and a woman, aged 28, have been arrested and will appear in the District Court at Invercargill today on charges relating to a burglary. The scuffle happened shortly before 4.30 a.m. when the two policemen went to a Bluff chemist shop. After they arrived- a masked man smashed his way out of the front door of the shop with the grubber. A struggle followed between the man and the two constables, one of them a policewoman. Both constables were later treated at hospital and discharged. The woman, who has also been charged in connection with the incident, was later found by the police near the shop.
