Search for gymnast

NZPA-AFP Montreal Organisers said the police were yesterday looking for a member of one of the delegations to the World Gymnastics Championships, in spite of denials by the Bulgarian delegation that one of their gymnasts had gone missing. The championship organisers insist that someone connected with the championships has not been seen

since November 1, but neither they nor the police are giving further details. Earlier, an article in a French-language Montreal Sunday newspaper had claimed that the missing person was a Bulgarian gymnast. But this was categorically denied by Dimitar Palatov, the head of the Bulgarian delegation. Mr Palatov said, “We

were very . unhappily surprised by this article. “All the 29 members of the delegation are present, meaning gymnasts and officials, and they have never been separated at all. The article in the newspaper is simply untrue.” But mystery surrounds the whereabouts of a Bulgarian gymnast, Jordan Krastev, who was listed in the official championships register as number 35.
