FUTURES Wool drops
Wool futures contract prices lost between 5c and 6c yesterday as the market continued to be dominated by the weak outlook for wool throughout the world, said Dr Brent Layton, the futures manager for Marshall Futures.
Some profit-taking late in the morning stemmed the stream of sellers and pushed prices up, but this was only a temporary phase. The United States dollar contract was quiet with the New Zealand dollar trading in a 30-point range on the foreign exchange market ahead of Veterans’ Day Holiday in the United States overnight. The prime commercial paper contract was active with trading having a face value of $49.4 million, with trading again occurring in the distant months of June and September, he said.
