Vetting dropped
NZPA-AFP London The British Broadcasting Corporation yesterday said that it had dropped its practice of “vetting” — checking employees for security risks — except for two categories of technicians and journalists.
The 8.8.C.’s director-gen-eral, Mr Alastair Milne, told National Union of Journalists representatives yesterday that only a limited number of employees would be subjected to such checks.
Still under surveillance would be those in radio or television jobs in wartime and certain people working for foreign services.
