Three . South Island secondary school pupils won the top prizes in a national senior school mathematics competition judged in Christchurch yesterday. Mark Tomlinson, aged 17, of Mairehau High School, won the Bank of New Zealand Senior Mathematics Competition for the second year running. Twenty pupils out of the 4000 entrants in the competition met at the Univer-' sity of Canterbury for the final examination yesterday.
Michael Wensley, of Timaru Boys’ High School, and David Moore, of Shirley Boys’ High School, were second-equal. Mark Tomlinson said the first question in the 90minute paper was the hardest, but once he had that completed he finished with 10 minutes to spare.
