Plea on killing charges
PA Wellington It was vital to the future of New Zealand’s meat industry that there be no increase in killing and processing charges this year, said the chairman of the Meat Board, Mr Adam Begg, yesterday. ‘’The breeding flock is in
danger of being seriously depleted by the present economic plight of farmers. Any further reduction in farmgate receipts from increased killing charges would aggravate an already serious situation to the longterm detriment of companies and the national economy,” he said.
