Robbers punch boy
PA Auckland Two men punched a schoolboy repeatedly as he tried to stop them taking about $ll,OOO in company wages. Veli Pamatangi, aged 14, who tried to foil the Papatoetoe bag snatch from a courier, said yesterday, “It was very fast and I got put off because no-one bothered to help me.” He said he was in a
supermarket at 10.45 a.m. when he heard a man yell. “A man was running almost in my direction so I just held on to him with a tight grip and he started punching and hitting,” said Veli. An accomplice then joined the scuffle. “I just let it go because the punches were too hard ... my cheek bones when I got home were all red,” Veli said.
