Fresh faces in U.K. squad
NZPA-AFP London Five newcomers to test rugby league are included in the Great Britain squad for the first test against New Zealand at Leeds, northern England, on October 19. First chances go to three forwards, John Fieldhouse, Brendan Hill and lan Potter, while two newcomers to the backs are the experienced centre, Keiron O’Loughlin and the scrumhalf, Bob Beardmore. “I think it is a good balance of experience and youth,” said the British coach, Mr Maurice Bamford.
He had selected 10 backs and nine forwards to form his squad. He is planning to reduce the party to 17 players in the week before the test. Squad: R. Beardmore (Castleford), M. Burke (Widnes), D.
