Politicians’ allowances
PA Wellington The Inland Revenue Department will examine increased allowances for politicians to see whether they should remain tax-free. The move was standard practice each time the allowances were increased, said the Commissioner of Inland Revenue, Mr John Simcock, yesterday. Parliamentary ' expense allowances were increased by the Higher Salaries Commission in a determination this week.
