El Mondo dead
Special correspondent Cambridge El Mondo, the foundation sire at Ron Taylor’s El Ganador Stud. Cambridge, died of a heart attack on Tuesday. El Mondo, which was 17. was by Trictrac from Nereid, by Neptune Romarin, by Robespierre. This great broodmare family produced the fine handicappers Fox Myth and Sometime and the broodmare. Galston, the dam of the Caulfield, Melbourne and Sydney Cups winner, Galilee, and the fine handicapper, Arbroath. El Mondo, which was unraced because of injury, was leased to Taylor to give him a start as a studmaster, a gesture by the Trelawney Stud for which he has always been grateful. El Mondo left many useful gallopers including El Katrina, Nippy Jim, El Pedro, Palraph, El Quondo,
