Jack Hammer could win again tonight

Special correspondent Wellington Jack Hammer, a brilliant winner at Addington at his last start, should prove too strong for his rivals in the Steinlager Mobile Pace at Hutt Park this evening. The first leg of the Wellington Trotting Club’s T.A.B. double has -drawn just eight runners and Jack Hammer should have their measure. The Jack Chance four-year-old could not have been more impressive when

resuming last Saturday, leading throughout the 2000 m journey to win by four and a half lengths. He has drawn out a little at No. 6 but this is often an advantage from the 2000 m start at Hutt Park and he is expected to try for an all-the-way success again. Over Bridge too has started the new season in fine style with two wins from three outings, the latest being over 2500 m at Claudelands last Friday. He is a previous winner

track and should be prominent again. Vicki McQuade has not raced since May but is a useful type and won freshup last season. She has the services of Anthony Butt, who does not seem to be able to do anything wrong at Hutt Park. The remainder of the field look an even lot with Bye Bye Mary, Play It Benny and Danny Boy all having won three races on the track. The promising pacers,

Delwyn Lass and Sheraton Way,' could fight out the finish of the second leg, the Steve Rickard Mobile Pace. Delwyn Lass recorded two wins and two seconds from her last five starts last season and looks destined for higher honours. She has not raced since June but should measure up well. Sheraton Way has finished out of the money only twice from seven outings and also looks likely to produce a bold efjprt fresh-up.
