New plan
The British Government has approved a new proposal to give Dublin a say in how Northern Ireland is
run, according to the newspaper, the “Mail on Sunday.” The paper said the Prime Minister, Mrs Margaret Thatcher, and her top Ministers last week approved a plan and sent it to the Irish Government for review. It proposed a joint Belfast office where Ministers and security chiefs from both countries would co-ordinate policies. In a separate report in the Sunday papers, Mrs Thatcher expressed incredulity that the British Broadcasting Corporation planned to air an interview with the man reported to be the I.R.A.’s chief of staff. — London.
