Judoka winner named

The New Zealand representative, John Moody, was last evening named the Canterbury Judoka of the Year. Moody, who won the bronze medal in the under71kg weight division at the Pacific Rim international tournament at Tokyo in June, was one of five nominations for the award. The others were Graeme Spinks,

who won the title in both its inaugural year, 1983, and last year, Brenda Leftly, Janet Poole and Phil McSweeney. The 22-year-old Moody has been selected in the New Zealand team for the world games in Seoul from September 24 to 30. He holds South Island and national titles at present.
