Timaru firm sells division

Dan Cosgrove, Ltd, of Timaru, has sold its Stafford Street plumbing supply division to Zip Holdings, Ltd, a subsidiary of the Winstone Group of Companies. Dan Cosgrove, Ltd, will continue operating from its Redruth plant, concentrating on the manufacture and distribution of roofing products, grain silos and farm machinery items throughout New Zealand. The purchase is subject to Commerce Commission approval. The company, founded in 1935 by the late Mr Dan Cosgrove as a plumbing business, was converted to a plumbers merchant and sheetmetal product producer in 1947, and has now grown to the point where it is the largest private company employer in the South Canterbury area. Existing staff, other than those being retained by Dan Cosgrove, Ltd, will transfer to Zip Holdings, Ltd.
