Woman hurt in attack at flat
An attack on a woman outside her flat in Avonside late on Thursday evening had domestic overtones, the Christchurch police said yesterday. The police had spoken to a person believed to have been involved in the attack, which happened in Stanmore Road, said a police spokesman. No-one else was sought on the matter and a decision had not yet been made whether charges would be laid, he said. The woman, aged 24, who was knocked unconscious, was believed to be in a satisfactory condition at Christchurch Hospital last evening. Her name has not been released. She suffered bruising and cuts in the attack. She told the police that she did not see her assailant.
After regaining consciousness, the woman staggered along the road and hailed a taxi-driver, who took her to Christchurch Hospital. The police spoke to the woman yesterday morning.
