Delay to District Scheme
The Christchurch City Council’s District Scheme will probably not become operative until next year. Outstanding appeals against the scheme, reviewed in 1979, include appeals on the road network, on G.U.S. shopping parking, service station retailing, sunlight protection for pedestrian areas, and zoning of a site in Armagh Street The Armagh Street hearing is due this month and decisions on other appeals will take several months. The service station appeal is not yet completed. Because of this, the scheme was not likely to become operative until early next year, said the City Planner, Mr Bill Williams.
