Crying for joy

NZPA-Reuter Danvers, Massachusetts Judy Clark “cried for happiness” after a final round’ 71 gave her the Boston Five Classic championship, and her first title in seven years on the LPGA Tour. Clark finished the 72-hole event at eight-under-par 280 to beat her fellow Americans. Donna Caponi, and Jane Geddes, by three strokes and collect the $67,500 first prize. Beginning the day with a four-stroke lead. Clark, aged 35. was in sure command for

most ol the afternoon. Caponi jumped into contention with a four-under-par 31 on the outward nine. But the winner of 24 LPGA titles was unable to sustain the momentum on the back nine, and ended the round at three-under-par 69. Geddes might have made it close, had it not been for two disasterous double-bogeys, one coming at the opening hole and the other at the eleventh. She carded a 70 to finish joint second.
