Touring series to NZ driver
NZPA-AAP Sydney The New Zealand Volvo driver, Robbie Francevic, his delivered his promised form by easily winning the final round of the Australian Touring Car Championship at Oran Park yesterday. In a faultless drive, Francevic’s turbo-charged Volvo was able to use the cool weather conditions to extract maximum horsepower. Francevic finished four seconds ahead of the Queenslander, Dick Johnson, whose Ford Mustang earlier featured in a tense battle with BMW driver Jim Richards and Peter Brock’s Commadore. The surprising performance was Brock’s form. He jumped from the second row of the grid, and led Francevic for the first four laps. After Francevic took the lead, Johnson and Richards, both found a path inside Brock, as the Commadore lost wheels under brakes.
