Trampers can use Wharfedale track
Although the Wharfedale track will be legally closed as a road, it is intended that trampers will still be able to use it, says the Oxford County Clerk, Mr Lloyd Kennedy. Earlier this month the council decided to close a section of the Wharfedale Road, from a point known as the View Hill car-park, about Bkm from the Woodstock Road turn-off.
The council will retain ownership of the closed section of road, which will be administered by the Forest Service for a five-year trial period, with the surrounding forest land. The Forest Service has been concerned about damage being done by persons using the track for motorbike and four-wheel drive vehicle access.
