Bascik New Brighton runners dominate relay

The Bascik New Brighton club dominated the S.X. Bakery Toe H under-16 road running relay in St Martins on Saturday.

Richard Lambert ran the fastest individual time for the course of about 4km, in a record llmin 2s and his team, Bascik New Brighton No. 1, came through from the backmark of 19min to pass the 23 other teams of four and win both on handicap and on fastest time.

Caroline Barrie (Bascik New Brighton) took the fastest time in the girls’ section, in 13:03, just three seconds faster than Tina Sharpe (North Canterbury) who ran in a different lap. The boys in the winning team were Lambert, Grant Robertson, Karl Weaver and Mark Reid.

The fastest girls’ team comprised Barrie, Tara Murray, Kim Fisher and Rachelle Carmichael. Results.—
