Counties defeat touring rugby side

PA Pukekohe A slithering try by Counties’ Warren McLean turned the tide against the New Zealand Emerging Players rugby side which lost 6-16 in Pukekohe on Saturday. Counties scored two tries to none in inflicting the second defeat on the tourists in their final tour match.

The Emerging Players trailed 6-9 at the break and although they had their moments in the second half, failed to come to grips with conditions made atrocious by heavy rain before the kick-off. The tourists made their best start on tour, in the first 20 minutes stamping their dominance up front.
