Australian success for N.Z. adverts
NZPA Melbourne A New Zealand advertisement which pokes fun at Australians has won recognition at the Australian commercial television station awards, presented in Melbourne. “Kiwi Assault,” advertising Nilverm sheep drench, a product of Coopers Animal Health, Ltd, entered by ColensoCommunications,was highly commended in the business-to-business section. The screening on Thursday evening was the first time the advertisement had been seen in Australia apart from its brief exposure on Australian television news when first released in New Zealand, said Mr Len Potts, creative director for Colenso Communications. Colenso dominated the special Television New Zea-
land category. Apple Computer “Farming,” CED Distributors, was the winner, “Corolla GT," Toyota New Zealand, was highly commended. Toyota also won the main award in the automotive vehicles section, for the third year in succession, with “Corolla GT.” Apple Computer “Farming” (winner of the New Zealand commercial of the year award) won the busi-ness-to-business category. Colenso’s Canterbury Authentics “Shorts, pants, shirts,” Canterbury International, was highly commended in the series cateFresh Up fruit juice “Iron Man,” New Zealand Apple and Pear Marketing Board, entered by Rialto Advertising, was highly commended
in the beverages non-al-coholic section. Savlon antiseptic-disinfec-tant “Hello Hello,” 1.C.1. New Zealand, Ltd, entered by J. Walter Thompson, Ltd, was highly commended in the household products section. Appeal for the blind “I Wish I Could See My Mum,” Royal N.Z. Foundation for the Blind, entered by Hott Advertising, was highly commended in the govern-ment-public services section. In the film direction category, Tony Williams, a Syd-ney-based New Zealand film director, was highly commended for Nilverm “Kiwi Assault.” In the editing category, Mike Horton was highly commended for Fresh Up “Iron Man.”
