Honour for Rives
NZPA-Reuter Paris Jean-Pierre Rives, the French rugby team captain until last year, will be created a member of France’s prestigious Legion of Honour on Bastille Day. Rives, aged 32, will become an “officier” of the order on the sixth anniver-
sary of one of his. greatest victories — the first French win over New Zealand on their opponents’ soil in Auckland. The flanker announced his retirement from the international scene last December after a decade in which he played 59 times for his country, 34 as captain.
