Young skater impresses

PA Dunedin Joanne Gamble, of Otago, has made an impressive start to the international roller skating tour at Nantes, France, and is lying second in the senior women’s event after two of the six days. Graham Campbell, the

manager of the three-strong New Zealand team, said Gamble, the youngest competitor in the event at 16, had finished fourth in both the 3000 metres and the 5000 metres on the first day. On the second day she was fourth in the 3000 metres and second in the 5000 metres.
