New Zealand Party
Sir, — The collapsing of the New Zealand ' Party by its own leader is almost unbelievable. Campaigning in the Timaru byelection, Bob Jones was confidently predicting that his party would in the not too distant future be the Government'. A month later he and his president throw in the towel. The unpopularity of the Government over the continuing surge in inflation and interest rates was sure to rub off on the party which claimed that Labour was implementing its financial policy. The credibility of the New Zealand Party was bound to suffer. Now it has gone altogether. Bob Jones has made himself and all those who
contributed to and supported his party look extremely foolish. — Yours, etc., J. F. GARVEY, Westport. July 11, 1985.
