Sex education

Sir,—l reply to Professor Ney’s statements reported from the ProLife Pregnancy support group conference (“The Press,” July 9). Where are the men in Professor Ney’s statements? It takes two to have sex. It takes two to rear children. It takes two to teach adolescents about life and caring. It takes two to give value to both boys and girls in the family unit. Infanticide, lack of bonding, grieving for babies lost by abortion, increasing sexual activity by adolescents, are all as much a failure of men as fathers, as of women as mothers. I am sad that a man, who has done so much to support families in difficulties in a difficult world through his work at the hospital, is by implication devaluing his own life’s work.—Yours, etc., (Mrs) MARGARET GIBBS. July 10, 1985.
