Referee’s car splattered
PA Auckland An Auckland rugby referee found his car splattered with paint and covered in corrosive liquid after he left a Referees’ - Association meeting at Eden Park. The words “No tour" were written in pink metallic paint across the boot of the vehicle. Mr Ross Harris said he did not discover the damage until he got home after the meeting on Monday evening, although he saw what he thought was grease on the bonnet. “When I turned on the lights in the garage I found the grease was actually j brake fluid that had been
poured all over the car. “There was also pink metallic paint everywhere over the back, and the slogan painted on the boot,” he said. “The thing that really annoys me is that I could have been against the tour . . . People in the association are, and these vandals could not have told the difference. “I am not against the tour, but if I were, this sort of thing would be the quickest way of changing my mind,” he said. The president of the Auckland Referees’ Association, Mr John Brewer, said the incident would be discussed at the next executive meeting on Monday.
